University Education Report 2019: Education start-ups are stirring up the continuing education market
When it comes to the world of work 4.0, German universities have a lot of catching up to do in terms of training and further education. Education start-ups and online platforms are now showing them how they can improve. The current university education report, published annually by the Stifterverband and the management consultancy McKinsey & Company, shows: Education start-ups score above all with a high degree of application orientation and innovative revenue models. The learning is project-based, individualized and practical.
Since 2013, the University Education Report has regularly shown how good the quality of education is in six areas of activity. The result is currently sobering: Germany is only on target in the area of “international education”. The indicators for a fair and permeable education system are in the middle range, as is the area of STEM education. The fields of activity for teacher training and further education come in last.
